Information on our Rec Program
The Recreational Program is designed for everyone in the U4-U12 age groups who want to play soccer. This program forms its teams through the use of the MSA rules and regulations. This form of team selection properly weights teams based off of actual participants ages and playing experience in an effort to create a level playing field for teams formed. HFC partners with the City of Hattiesburg's Parks and Recreation Department to offer a quality recreational program for the City of Hattiesburg.
For a child to play in the 2026 Spring Rec program they need to be at least 3 years old in the 2025 calendar year and no older than 11 years old in the 2025 calendar year. (YES, the 2025 calendar year). What age division a child is put in depends on the year he/she was born. All games for the U4-U12 are played at the Tatum Park Facility.
Games will be played mostly on Saturdays with a couple weekday night games and will start on February 28th, 2026. The regular season should conclude around April 11th, 2026 . There will be an end of the season tournament for U8-U12 group starting on April 13th, 2026.
If you have a child born 2013-2007 please go to this link below to see what we have to offer for these age groups.

The build out line promotes playing the ball out of the back in a less pressured setting.
When the goalkeeper has the ball, either during play (from the opponent) or from a goal kick, the opposing team must move behind the build out line until the ball is put into play.
Once the opposing team is behind the build out line, the goalkeeper can pass, throw or roll the ball into play (punting is not allowed).
After the ball is put into play by the goalkeeper, the opposing team can cross the build out line and play resumes as normal.
If a goalkeeper punts the ball, an indirect free kick should be awarded to the opposing team from the spot of the offense.
If the punt occurs within the goal area, the indirect free kick should be taken on the goal area line parallel to the goal line at the nearest point to where the infringement occurred.
Players will not be penalized for an offside offense in U8 5v5.
